Party Like it's 1982

The first party that Tigerlily ever went to was Mel's birthday party which we somehow attended two weeks after she was born. Somewhere or other I have a polaroid of her at that party in a fetching pink and white striped onesie (if I manage to find it I will put it up on the blog). This year, Mel was having a fancy-dress party and we were requested to come in 80s gear. Mel suggested that I dress Wolf in a little power suit with a mobile phone twice the size of his head and that Tiger and I could come in fabulous frou-frou prom dresses.
Naturally, as is so often the case, we did not have time to organise anything in the way of costumes so I went with the obligatory side pony tail and lurid make-up. Tiger asked me if she could have the same hairstyle and we dressed her in her flouro-pink ra-ra skirt. She was absolutely fascinated by the hot-pink and blue eyeshadow that I had applied, so, in a fit of cruisey'ness that I would not usually indulge in when it comes to make-up, I asked if she would like to wear some eyeshadow too and she went crazy for the idea. Once done, I was determined to get a shot of us together, but this proved more difficult than I imagined:

Part of the problem was that she could
see herself in the camera...

... and this lead to a series of photos of her tongue.

I told her that we were trying for a shot
of her eyelids which meant that she pointed
them at the lens, or attempted to...

I told her to instead lift her chin a little,
so that we could get a photo of her lids, and
this was the result.

In the end, I decided to go with Tiger's
approach.
We finally got a decent shot that showed
her blue lids - I liked it so much that this is my
current profile picture.

At least mama managed to look hot in every photo. I love the eyelids one. Tiger looks demonic.

Hehehe, the distinct advantage of being able to see oneself in the camera! By which I mean: 'yar, I totes look hot in photos all the time.'
